SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Each year, the cities of Longview and Kelso combine their quantities of water treatment chemical purchases to obtain more favorable prices. Bids were received from five (5) chemical suppliers. Staff’s award recommendations for the chemicals Longview uses are as follows:
Bid Item #2 Flourosilicic Acid - Cascade Columbia - $3.20 / gallon
Bid Item #3 Sodium Hydroxide - Northstar Chemical - $0.97 / gallon
Bid Item #4 Sodium Hypochlorite - HASA - $0.87 / gallon
(Note: Bid Item 1 shown on the bid tabulation sheet is used by the City of Kelso only.)
The bid submitted by JCI Jones for sodium hypochlorite did not meet the chemical quality specification and is therefore considered non-responsive. The bids submitted by all other bidders are regular and responsive. The total estimated chemical cost for Longview in 2019 is $126,410, approximately $10,530 more than the projected 2018 chemical costs.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
Funds for purchasing these chemicals are budgeted in the Filter Plant Operations Fund for 2019.

Motion to award chemical purchase bids to the bidders identified in the agenda summary.
