17-4950 18CCIRCLE OF WISDOM PARK PLACEMENTAgenda ItemCIRCLE OF WISDOM PARK PLACEMENT The bronze sculpture called "Circle of Wisdom" by Jim Demetro is currently located at the Longview Library in the children's area. The Library would like it removed and placed somewhere it can be better viewed as it is currently located on the floor. The Longview Outdoor Gallery wanted it placed downtown on Commerce, but the height of the sculpture and width are not conducive to the sculpture bases that were newly erected downtown. Because this is the same artist who created the Sacajawea statue at Lake Sacajawea and is a Native American Grandmother and child, the Visual Arts Commission recommended its placement at Lake Sacajawea Park. The VAC proposed a large flat stone/boulder be placed near one of the gardens and the Circle of Wisdom be cemented into place. The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a recommendation for the placement of the sculpture Circle of Wisdom to be placed at Lake Sacajawea Park on the condition that it received a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission.   Action details Not available
17-4951 18DProposed Paint Colors for Elks Memorial BuildingAgenda ItemPROPOSED PAINT COLORS FOR ELKS MEMORIAL BUILDING The Recreation Building is being painted in 2017 with the siding color cocoon and the trim color caviar. The Facilities Maintenance has requested also painting the Elks Memorial Building at Lake Sacajawea the same colors. The Elks Memorial Building is located in the historic Lake Sacajwea Park. The colors recommended by the Parks and Recreation Department would need to be approved by the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board as well as a Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission. The Department feels that the provided colors will enhance the visual beauty of the building as well as not take away from the beauty of the park. The Parks and Recommendation Department is seeking a recommenation to approve the colors proposed and to present the proposal to the Historic Preservation Commission.   Action details Not available
