At the end of the workshop, the city council scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for September 8. The proposal was developed by a committee appointed by the council. The committee was comprised of two council members and two planning commission members. The planning commission reviewed the committee's recommendation and then held a public hearing on July 6. Following the hearing, the planning commission recommended approval of the proposal without any changes to it. SUMMARY STATEMENT:

At their August 25 workshop, the city council was given a presentation on proposed zoning code amendments to address the siting of new emergency shelters.  At the end of the workshop, the city council scheduled a public hearing on the proposal for September 8. The proposal was developed by a committee appointed by the council.  The committee was comprised of two council members and two planning commission members.  The planning commission reviewed the committee's recommendation and then held a public hearing on July 6.  Following the hearing, the planning commission recommended approval of the proposal without any changes to it.

 

The committee's proposal and a draft ordinance that would adopt the proposal are attached.

   

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Hold public hearing and then, if ready, consider a motion to adopt Ordinance No. 3327.
