SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Please find attached the 2018 State Legislative Agenda approved by Council at their special meeting on December 7, 2017. Our state legislative agenda is always a work in progress, meaning it is subject to amendment as political and legislative issues change and unanticipated opportunities arise. It identifies issues of interest primarily to the City of Longview, and perhaps a handful of other jurisdictions, but also some issues of interest to the “city family” throughout the state by reference to the Association of Washington Cities’ legislative agenda. It provides guidance to city representatives for communicating with legislators and other state officials about proposed legislation, rule-writing, and the administration of state programs.

 

The purpose of this workshop is for the City Council and staff to acquaint themselves with Briahna Murray and Chelsea Hagar,  representatives with Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell and review the City’s 2018 state legislative agenda.

   

RECOMMENDED ACTION:

Review 2018 state legislative agenda with representatives Briahna Murray and Chelsea Hagar of Gordon, Thomas, Honeywell state governmental affairs/legislative lobbying services.
