SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Harlie’s Angels is a non-profit organizations based on equipping and empowering teens to grow into God-loving, responsible, caring, young adults through sports, service, and fellowship. (www.harliesangels.com) Jennifer DesArmo of Harlie’s Angels and her dedicated volunteers have been working hard to improve the lives of the community and specifically the lives of the teens at the Longview Center.
Jennifer addressed the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board in October of 2017 and the Historic Preservation Board in November of 2017 to talk about the possibility of a project of this nature coming to Lake Sacajawea.
At a Council Workshop on February 22, 2018, the Parks and Recreation Department presented the Harlie’s Hoops Project, a covered basketball court next to the Elk’s Memorial Building at Lake Sacajawea Park, for Council to approve of the project concept.
At the workshop, Council unanimously voted to support the concept and to move forward on the first steps of the project. Harlie’s Angels worked with Ecological Land Services to undergo a Critical Areas Determination and Impact Analysis for the proposed Harlie’s Hoops Basketball Court. This was done in accordance with Appendix A, Shorelines Critical Areas Regulations of the City of Longview Shoreline Management Program, 2015.
Ecological Land Services found that the project would have no impacts to crucial areas as a result of the project. Harlie’s Angles would now like to apply for a Washington State Joint Aquatic Resources Permit Application with the City of Longview as the owner of the property.
