APPROVE LETTER OF SUPPORT AND LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS FOR FY2019-2021 WASHINGTON STATE REGIONAL MOBILITY GRANT

SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of Longview is the Designated Recipient of State and Federal public transit funds. The City of Longview, in cooperation with the Cowlitz Transit Authority, is applying for the FY2019-2021 Washington State Regional Mobility Grant to purchase one (1) light-duty cutaway bus and implement a regional service connector pilot project to Lexington.
This project supports the goals of the Transit Enhancement Plan and are supported in the regional long range transportation plan. To demonstrate local support for the project, the application requires documentation of local financial commitment and support. Staff is requesting the CTA approve a letter of support and adopt a resolution allocating local matching funds for the grant. This project will begin in fall of 2019 if successful.
FINANCIAL SUMMARY:
The estimated cost of the vehicle purchase and two years of service for the pilot project is $365,000. The grant requires a 20% local match; therefore the estimated match funds requested of the CTA is $73,000. These projects will be included in the 2019 Transit Development Plan and there are adequate funds available in the Cowlitz Transit Authority Budget.

Motion to approve Resolution Number 2018-02 and authorize the Chair to sign a letter of support for the City of Longview 2019-21 Regional Mobility grant application.
